Dave Buonaguidi

Dave Buonaguidi, AKA Real Hackney, is a Hackney-based artist who combines the visual and verbal language of advertising and propaganda with unique imagery and materials of found objects and ephemera.

Dave employs a reactive approach to his art, using screenprint and his bold typographic approach to push the boundaries of creativity and respond to cultural subjects and events in almost real-time, as if a publisher going to print. Through his considered juxtaposition of known and unknown, he hopes to incite an emotional connection or reaction with the viewer.

Before becoming an artist, Dave worked in advertising for over 35 years, founding several creative agencies including St. Luke’s, 4Creative and Karmarama.

In 2003 he created the iconic MAKE TEA NOT WAR poster for the anti-war march. It now is part of the collection at the V&A and hangs in the Trento Museum of Modern Art. And, as bizarre as it sounds, he also played international cricket for Italy.

FAQs

How do we meet?

All sessions are held over video call, a link will be sent to you upon booking.

What do I need to bring?

A clear question or outcome for the session, and an understanding of how this will move you or your business forward. An hour can go surprisingly fast, so make sure you get the most from it. You’ll also need a pen and paper for furious note-taking, and good strong wifi, as you won’t want to miss any nuggets of gold.

How can I be sure I will get what I need?

All our mentors are trained by a certified coach, but our tips for mentees will help make sure you get the most out of your session. Remember, a mentor is not a fixer-of-all-things, the hard work comes from you. Mentors do not provide the answers, they provide a space in which to work through the questions.

How long are sessions?

All sessions are booked for 60 minutes from the agreed start time. Arriving late will impact the amount of time you get to spend with your mentor.

How much is it?

Sessions are individually-priced, but start at £150 for one hour.

That session was amazing, can I see my mentor again?

Of course! You can book in as often as you like, and we hope that you will continue to gain value from your mentor. Longer-running programmes will be launching soon, you can pre-register your interest here.
